Dr. Isaac Asimov

Date: ca. 1997

(Corrections welcome)

Dr. Asimov was an author of science and science fiction. He was born in Russia in 1920, but moved to the United States and became an American citizen when he was eight(?). He started writing at eleven, and tried to sell his first story at eighteen (to John W. Campbell). It was rejected. Four months later, another story was sold, and he never looked back.

He has written well over 400 works of fiction and non-fiction, of which the Foundation series is perhaps the most famous. It is said that he is the only author to have a book in every category of the Dewey Decimal system.

The Foundation Series was begun when he was twenty-one, and ended shortly before his death in April 1992.
