I've jumped on the Lost bandwagon. I'm not a big fan, but I've started watching Season 1 on DVD. This bit tickled me: Locke's story, when they start it, his boss is walking by asking about TPS reports. Don't get it? See Office Space.
40 mA 2 watts on standby versus 350 mA 25 watts on full power. 19" flat panel. Compare 60+ watts for a 17" CRT at 820 mA. Okay, a table:
Obviously, the numbers are wrong. The voltage was always 120V. Updated again: Obviously, the simple P=VI formula doesn't apply for inductive and capacitive loads. See "power factor". Updated again: I went alittle nuts with the meter. An incandescent 3-level bulb takes 50-100-150Watts at about 300-400mA for the lowest (or middle? I don't remember and am too lazy to measure again) setting. A CFL bulb takes 10-19-28 Watts at about the same current, because of power factor. This meter does have a PF setting. I just filed my state taxes online.
It took 5 minutes.
Mostly because I had the form already filled out and wanted to try doing it online for laughs.
(I didn't file accidentally, I just found it so simple and easy that I went through with it.)
Too bad federal tax e-filing is outsourced. SC State wasn't, at least as far as I could tell.
RG says you can't trust a web site just because of the URL, after all.
I am up at 0500 working to stop errors spewing in the error log. We just moved servers, see, and some things either didn't get moved properly or have been broken for a long time. And the move may have exposed brokenness, or we used to just live with it. Either way, I'm fixing stuff. And I'm doing this at 0500 because the kid woke me at 0400. |
