Leisure (in TSEC)

(original "Leisure" by [unknown, possibly Wordsworth], parody by Glen Rodrigues)

What is this life, if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to see Kunal perform,
Experiments without power supplies on.
No time to see Satyajit stare,
At the CRO's burning glare.

No time to hear Mahesh's thoughts,
As we fidget with the `pot'.
No time to hear Raina sing,
As I get going with my debugging.

No time to listen to Satyajit shout,
As Rajesh blows transistors out.
No time to go about trying our luck,
As all the equipment in this lab sucks!

Stopping by the Server on a Friday Evening

(From the original Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost)

Whose files these are, I think I know
His boss is in the office, though
He will not see my stopping here
To make his files fill up with gore.

My little PFY must think it queer
To stop without a luser near
Between a rock and a hard place
The farthest reaches of his fear.

He gives his sleepy head a shake
To ask if there is some more steak
The only other sounds the whir
Of noisy fan and scratchy tape.

The games are Deathmatch, Zork and Pong
But I have networks to run
And backups to do before I sleep
And backups to do before I sleep.

Make It So

(To the tune of "Let it Snow")

Oh, the space outside is frightful,
But the tea is so delightful,
And since we've no starbase to go,
Make it so, make it so, make it so.

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some Earl Gray for drinking;
The warp core's turned way down low,
Make it so, make it so, make it so.

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate beaming up in the storm;
But if you really scan it right,
All the way home we'll be fine.

The warp core's slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still scanning,
But as long as you fix the core.
Make it so, make it so, make it so

The Ballad of Geordi LaForge

(To the tune of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett")

Come listen to a story 'bout a man named Geordi
A poor engineer, barely kept his warp core lighted
Then one day he was pointing at some dude
And up thru the ground came a-bubbling Q
Entity that is. Universes. Continuuum.

Well the first thing you know old Geordi's in the air
The Captain saw and said "Q move away from there!"
Said "Continuum's the place you ought to be"
So they bundled up the core and moved to Beverly's
Sickbay that is. Redshirts. Tricorders.

Well now it's time to say goodbye to Geordi and his crew
They would like to thank you for kindly beamin' in
You're all invited back next week to this local anomaly
To have a heapin' helpin' of their hospitality.
