F14
Grumman F-14A Tomcat
The F-14A Tomcat in 1:48 scale, by Revell Monogram. I assembled it,
painted it, and put the decals. The color scheme is basic gray, a light
ghost grey for the body, dark ghost grey for the cockpit area, and missiles,
and a weird color whose name I don't know for the nose cone. The exhaust
nacelles were left unpainted. The decals are not standard, either.
The cool thing about this model, although a display model, the wings
actually swing in and out. The F14 has swing-wings for subsonic and
supersonic efficiency.
Got painting guides, which I didn't quite follow, from Tomcat reference page

Nose and cockpit area painted black. I decided this looks too dark.

Partially painted, this was maybe the first or second coat. This time I used multiple coats so it didn't streak like on the F15.

Same paint, different angle. Note that I forgot to put on the nacelles, because the instructions don't mention them! The engine exhausts are no longer black in the final model

The paint as it dries. Note the color difference and then tell me I didn't paint it (someone thought I didn't).

More painting, more drying. Note that assembly isn't complete, and some parts needed painting before assembly.

Fully painted nose view. Sorry about the blurs, the digicam isn't good at closeups.
